Prepare to open a plan account

5 min readRoth Academy field notes

Financial institutions have their own application processes. A complete preparation packet helps you ask the right questions before sending an application.

01

Start with the institution

Ask what type of account it supports, the documents required, the available features, and any institution-specific restrictions. Confirm current instructions directly with the institution.

02

Match the records

Use the correct plan and trust information from the executed documents. Resolve mismatched names or identifiers before proceeding. Do not guess an account title from a marketing name.

03

Keep the confirmation

Save submitted materials and the confirmation of the account opening. Record who has authority to operate the account and how ongoing statements will be retained.
